Yes, I have seen Jesus Christ face to face, in a dream. Yes, his visage was clear and unobscured. Yes, the picture above most clearly represents what I saw. Because this photo– yes, a photo! more on that later– is in black and white, I will tell you that He had brown hair, olive skin, and hazel eyes. In my dream He was dressed simply, in a white robe and was very human in appearance. Jesus was tall and thin but strong, as one would expect a manual laborer/Almighty Warrior to be.
What You Should Know about Seeing Jesus
Here are some things to remember about visions of Jesus in general:
- Jesus has many forms, as shown in Daniel and Revelations.
- Our spiritual eyes often see things according to our own perspective and desires. (1 Cor. 13:12, Matt 5:8) If you are convinced that Jesus must have brown, or green, or purple eyes, maybe Jesus won’t fight you on it. To be clear though, His eyes are any and all colors as He sees fit.
- Some people get caught up in Jesus’s coloring, and forget that Jesus is the Ancient of Days and exists outside of time. He only assumed a mortal form for 33 years of His existence, and while yes, during that time he was Jewish man of Middle Eastern appearance, that’s only one small part of His continuum as an eternal being. Ergo, He can be whatever color He wants to be! If it helps, perhaps you might consider that He was blue/bronze/the color of lightning before He was ever Semitic. Dan. 10:6
- Jesus knows what you need to see. If you find handsome Jesus unrelatable, He’ll show you plain Jesus. If you need compassion He’ll show up in a simple robe (or jeans and a t-shirt,) as a friend. If you need justice, perhaps you’ll see Him as the Advocate, or the Commander of Hosts. If you are in need of correction, He may show up as Rabbi, or as the King of Kings.
- Which leads me to my last point. If you’ve truly seen Jesus and He looked different to you, no sweat, neither of us are wrong. It’s more important to consider why He appeared to us as He did, and what lessons He was trying to impart to us with His countenance.
How do I know it was Jesus?
You may be wondering where this photo came from; all I know is that a man from Italy named Eugenio Siragusa took it sometime in the 60s. I was unable to find more information about the photographer or the story behind the photo. I only know that this is the face that my dearest friend showed to me when He appeared in my dream.
How do I know it was Him? Anyone who has seen our Lord face to face will tell you that His presence is UNMISTAKABLE. It wrecked me so hard that I had to call out from work that day just to cry and process. The amount of LOVE that He emits to your heart just by occupying the same space as you is…well, here, language fails.
